The Importance of SUMMER MATH CAMP
School is becoming increasingly more rigorous.  With the emergence of the SOL examinations and the increasing emphasis on technology, more and more is being required of students.  Our Summer Math Camp is designed to give students a "jump-Start" on the new school year in critical areas of math.

ALGEBRA I
THE GATEWAY TO MASTERING MATH!

LEARN:
*   to solve multiple-step equations
*   to process polynomials/ learn the factoring concept
*   to understand exponents (laws and concepts)
*   to solve simple word problems
*   to graph linear equations using multiple methods
*   to link/integrate vocabulary, formulas, and processes

CLASS DATES:  Mon - Thur, Aug 13 - 16 & Aug 20 - 23
TIME:  8:30 - 9:45 AM

Before I describe the content of our math camp, I would like to relate my daughter's experience many summers ago.  Before Dawn entered high school, she had the opportunity to attend Summer Math Camp.  She was scheduled to take geometry in high school as a ninth grader that fall.  She attended a small group session and learned to interpret definitions and theorems.  She mastered the visual aspects of interpreting a theorem and the rudimentary aspects of doing a proof.  The results of that initial exposure were astounding!  Dawn got an A+ in geometry with essentially no help from us.

Early exposure to critical concepts makes a definite difference.
Tuition for each class is $495

SUMMER MATH CAMP - taught by Donald Manigault, B.A., M.Ed., is a unique experience designed to encourage students to lose their fear of math; learn to become more assertive in class; prepare for tests; and gain confidence as math students.  The focus of our math camp is to allow students to understand what determines excellence in the math classroom and to set goals that are both practical and obtainable.  This unique program aims to instill a higher level of competence and set the stage for success for the next school year.

MATERIALS  INCLUDE  INSTRUCTIONAL MANUAL PLUS  THE BOOK FOR MATH EMPOWERMENT *                   (GEOMETRY AND ALGEBRA II), OR THE CHILDREN'S BOOK FOR MATH EMPOWERMENT * ( ALGEBRA I)
